Your narrator, the Leader
The Leader attended the Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Con in Hunt Valley, Maryland on 19 and 20 September 2013. This is the Leader's favorite show of the year. His pleasure at attending this year's show was greatly enhanced from being accompanied by his friend Jack Price of Suffolk, VA, a dedicated collector of John Wayne memorablia. The Leader approves of those type of people. The Leader was also delighted to see an old friend at the show, comic book collector George Mihalik whom he has known since the late 1990s. The Leader also approves of comic book collectors.

Art Harvey
Art Harvey from New Jersey is the Leader's favorite movie memorabilia dealer. He always has interesting items at reasonable prices. Here's Art presiding over his huge selection of movie posters and photos.

Charles Miller
The Leader and Charles "Chuck" Miller go back a long way together. They both used to set up at the Tyson's Corner comic show in Northern Virginia in the late 1990s. Chuck is an expert in literary science fiction and was 50% of the now extinct speciality sci-fi book publisher, Underwood-Miller. Chuck didn't have a lot of cool inventory at this year's show but this rare Dell paperback Tarzan and the Lost Empire caught the Leader's eye.
Chuck Rogers
The Leader met comic book dealer Chuck Rogers at the Williamsburg Film Festival a few years ago and was pleased to see Chuck setting up at the Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Con for the first time. Here's Chuck showing off a 1960s Beverly Hillbillies hardback book and an Elvis Presley telephone.
James Turiello
James Turiello with some Buster Crabbe as Flash Gordon collectibles. Mr. Turiello was the most interesting person the Leader met at this year's show. Mr. Turiello has a new book just published Errol Flynn: The Quest for an Oscar and a similar book about Marilyn Monroe due out later. He grew up in New Jersey and told the Leader he was taught to swim at the Palisades Amusement Park by former Flash Gordon and Tarzan actor, the legendary Buster Crabbe who was working at the park after his movie career was largely finished. The Leader was even more astounded to learn from Mr.Turiello that his mother, Rose Turiello, worked at Columbia Pictures in the old days and was chosen to be the model for that movie studio's famous torch carrying statue "Miss Liberty" logo that appears at the start of Columbia movies. That's some pretty good bragging rights!
The Solar Guard
The Solar Guard is a group devoted to the appreciation of 1950s science fiction TV shows. The Leader first encountered them a few years ago at the Williamsburg Film Festival where they always set up. This is the first time he has seen them at this Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia show. Here are Guard Cadets Ed Pippin with a cool poster glorying the 1950s and Henry Kane with a new book about 1950s sci-fi TV shows. Before joining the Solar Guard, Cadet Kane was in another aerospace service, the United States Air Force, as was the Leader himself once upon a time.
Primo Cardinalli
Here's artist Primo Cardinalli with an interesting painting based on the 2011 Marvel comics movie Thor. The painting depicts alternative actors for the characters in that movie: Charlton Heston as Thor, Richard Burton as Odin and Peter O'Toole as Loki.
Larry Newman
The Leader first met Larry Newman at last year's show and found they had a common interest in ancient Roman and Greek history and old movies about the same. Larry specializes in movie publicity programs. The two he has here are British and American versions of Solomon and Sheba.
Gene Carpenter
As always the Leader saves his favorite show dealer for last: the illustrious comic book expert and dealer Gene Carpenter. Gene is the only major comic book dealer who sets up at the Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Con.
Gene Carpenter
Gene is always finding rare and arcane inventory and at this show he had a set of five 1940s British romance magazines named Enchantment that Gene and the Leader agreed were interesting because they included b&w comic strips. Gene is asking $1,000 for the entire set of five magazines.

Martin Grams
Martin Grams is a prolific author on pre 1980 movies and radio shows. He also manages and promotes the Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Con and the Leader has been watching him build that show into one of the best popular culture shows on the East Coast. Marty handles every important task needed to make the show run smoothly, including the vital task of distributing donuts to the show's vendors.
