Your narrator, the Leader
The Leader attended one of his favorite shows, the Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Con in Hunt Valley, Maryland 15-17 September 2022. Regrettably, he hadn't been to this show since 2018 due to other commitments and conflicting shows. So he was happy to see his dealer friends again after such a long absence including Art Harvey and his associates, Brendan Faulkner, Leon Vincent, Bill McMahon, Pete Santili. The Leader was also pleased to receive a satisfactory explanation from his favorite comic book dealer Gene Carpenter as to why Gene did not appear at PulpFest and the Virginia Comic Con in August as the Leader had expected.

Henry Franke
Herny Franke late in the last day of the show doing some last minute book shopping at Robert Matzen's table.
Mitchell Harvey, Art Harvey
I've known movie poster dealer Art Harvy from New Jersey for many years. At this show he always has the best selection of vintage movie posters, lobby cards and photos. Art keeps most of the prices of his merchandise in his head so his associates frequently have to ask him the price of an item when a customer inquires. His son Michell calls it the "Hey Dad" system. Here's Michell now interrupting his dad who was talking with some customers to ask him the price of a photo.
Art tried his hand at setting up as a dealer at what for him was the far away town of Williamsburg, Virginia a few years ago. The show was the Williamsburg Film Festival. He didn't have a good show and told me then he was never coming back. However, now that the show has been taken over by Martin Grams who promotes this Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Con show, Art has changed his mind and will be returning to the Williamsburg show this November. I look forward to seeing him there again in my neck of the woods.
Mitchell Harvey, Robert Lentz, Glenn Manjorin
These three men are usually with Art at this show to help him manage his nine tables of merchandise.
Lewis Forro, Art Harvey
Several years ago I bought from ebay a CBS promotional poster called "Suspense" mostly because it has illustrations of Alfred Hitchcock and Rod Serling. It's part of a small group of similar posters devoted to other CBS shows. They are extremely rare since they were only sent to CBS affiliate TV stations and never offered for sale to the public. There is a "Comedy," "Variety" and news broadcasters poster and maybe a few more I don't know about. The only other one I wanted was this "Western" poster since it features illustrations of many familiar stars of Western TV shows I like. See if you can match the stars with the names of their TV shows shown on the poster. I never had any luck finding this poster at an affordable price on ebay and then lucky lightening struck! I was visiting Art Harvey's tables to take photos and I see this poster hanging on his wall. I didn't have the cash to buy it. So I put down a deposit and will pay Art the balance at the Williamasburg show in November. Thanks Art! That's why you're the Leader's favorite movie poster dealer.
Gene Carpenter
As usual I've saved the best for last. Here's the Leader's favorite comic book dealer schmoozing a customer and presiding serenely over his vast empire of lovely Golden Age and Silver Age comic books.
The Leader explained in no uncertain terms that he was disappointed at not seeing Gene at PulpFest and the Virginia Comic Con last August. The Leader was satisfied with Gene's explanation that he thought he could do better at competing shows.
Gene Carpenter
Gene with two Dell comic books from the early 1950s. Dell Publishing did most of the movie and TV show adaptations into comic books in the those days and did lots of Walt Disney movie and TV show comics. These two comics with space travel themes were derived from episodes of Disney's "Tomorrowland" series which was one of the categories along with "Fantasyland," "Frontierland" and so on that were part of Disney's TV series "Disneyland" which appeared on the ABC TV network in the 1950s. There is another "Tomorrowland" comic but Gene uncharacteristically didn't have it.
This wraps up the Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Con for this year and I look forward to seeing Gene, Carpenter, Brendan Faulkner and the Art Harvey crew at the Williamsburg Nostalgia Fest this coming November.
