12th Annual Baltimore Comic Con with Stan Lee 20-21 August 2011

The main reason I attended the Baltimore Comic Con this year was to get to Stan Lee to sign something for me. The first and last time I had seen him was in the mid 1970s when he was at the Atlanta Fantasy Fair convention. He's 89 years old now and does not attend many East Coast comic conventions so I figured this was my last chance.

Ticket table for Stan Lee autographs
The line on Saturday was very long. Sunday wasn't bad.

Stan Lee autograph line
A fan with The Amazing Spider-Man newspaper strip original art for Stan to sign.
Next to the Stan Lee autograph line
The Kingpin choking Spider-Man.
Being photographed with a legendary demigod is expensive and time consuming. The photograph is $40.00. The signature is $55.00. The wait in line for both is about 2.5 hours. I wouldn't do it for anybody but Stan Lee.
Bob Cook
I used to set up next to Bob at the Tyson's Corner comic show in Northern Virginia. circa 1997-1998. Bob always has interesting artwork and other esoteric stuff. The large b&w illustration at top to his right is a Bill Ward original illustration.
Gene Carpenter of All-American Comics
Gene is the friendliest comic book dealers I know. His encyclopedic knowledge of old comics and inventory of same is incredible. If there was a Jeopardy Tournament of Champions for comic book experts Gene would be the man to beat.
Wayne Ehrmann of Zeno's Books
Zeno's Books has been my local comic book store since 1993. The statues to his right are Alice In Wonderland's daughter and the Chesire Cat. If you need to complete your Playboy collector card sets, see Wayne.
Shelton Drum
Shelton is the affable overlord of a big comic book empire in the South. He is best known for sponsoring the Heroes Aren't Hard To Find convention in Charlotte, North Carloina. His latest and greatest find is the Savannah pedigree collection now being sold through Heritage Auctions.
J. David Spurlock
David publishes some of the best books about comics. He was promoting The Art Of Neal Adams but he gave us a sneak peak at the new deluxe editions of Frank Frazetta: White Indian and Johnny Comet. He tells me Vanguard's upcoming book Wally Wood Stange Worlds Of Science Fiction will be comprehensvie with some surprises. I'm very proud of the 1-of-a-kind Steve Ditko Space Wars promotional poster David sold me a few years back.
Bechara Maalouf of Nostalgic Collectables
Bechara is one of the better original art dealers with nice selection of Marvel ad DC Silver Age art. I bought a Tales Of Suspense #2 comic book from him at a New York show circa 1994 and a 1964 Hulk original page from Tales To Astonish #73 at the Richmond, Virginia comic show in 2011.
The biggest and best Sub-Mariner statue I've ever seen and priced way to cheap at $200.00.
The biggest Incredible Hulk statue I've ever seen.
Sunny Stoudemire as Little Red Riding Hood
Sunny promotes Zenescope Comics items for Zeno's Books.
Some of her other costumes are Alice In Wonderland and Supergirl.
She designs her costumes and does most of the sewing. Sunny is the delightful kind of young lady who makes an old man wish for younger days.
