Your narrator, the Leader
The Leader attended Pulpfest in Cranberry, Pennsylvania slightly north of Pittsburg, 27 - 29 July 2017. The Leader loves comic books of course but he also is interested in pulp magazines and paperback books and original artwork for the same and Pulpfest is one of the few shows that has dealers selling lots of that type of merchandise. In previous years Pulpfest was held in Columbus, Ohio and the Leader was glad he didn’t have to drive as far from his home in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Dealer Set Up and Early Bird Buyers, Thursday, 27 July 2017
Meteor House
Here is Mike Croteau, Win Scott Eckert and Paul Spiteri of Meteor House discussing upcoming book projects. before the Early Bird buyers arrive These men are among the top experts on the science fiction author Philip Jose Farmer.
Ray Walsh
Ray Walsh of Curious Book Shop in East Lansing, Michigan always has a large assortment of pulps and some nice original pulp art. Ray is getting on a bit in years and I'd like to see him have some help at this show but he does everything himself.
Brendan Faulkner
Brendan Faulkner is another veteran pulp and movie memorabilia dealer who I always see at the Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Con in Maryland. This was the first time I have seen him at Pulpfest.
David Saunders
David Saunders (striped shirt) looking through some boxes of pulps. David is the son of famous pulp artist Norman Saunders and gave a slide show presentation on his father at last year’s Pulpfest.
Gary Diedriech
David Diedriech (center) in his booth talking with two potential customers. I first met Gary at last year’s Pulpfest.
Walter Albert & Jim Albert
Walter and Jim Albert have been reading and collecting pulp magazines for over 50 years. Here they are showing off some of their 1940s Amazing Stories pulps with the Edgar Rice Burroughs character John Carter of Mars on the cover. The cover art is by J. Allen St. John.
Derek Woywood & Gene Carpenter
Derek Woywood talking with the Leader’s favorite comic book dealer Gene Carpenter (orange cap). Derek and Gene frequently set up next to each other at shows. Gene Carpenter always has a great assortment off Golden and Silver Age comic books and Derek sells mostly comic and magazine preservation supplies like bags and backer boards. Behind Derek is Paul Spiteri and Mark Hickman in Mark’s booth. In the foreground at right are Derek’s boxes of supplies. Across from Gene at left is author and DVD dealer Martin Grams, Jr.’s booth covered in white sheets. Marty had already finished setting up so he covered his tables and went to lunch or something.
