Star Trek Video Posters
After The Twilight Zone, my favorite television show of all time is the 1960s Star Trek. I never watched a complete Star Trek show in in its original 1967 – 1969 run. But like many people I got hooked on it later when it went into syndication. My brother David and I used to joke about how dangerous life was was for the Enterprise’s red-shirted security officers. Whenever some of them beamed down with Captain Kirk and other landing crew members they were frequently killed or turned into styrofoam cubes. We weren’t the only Star Trek fans who noticed the high fatality rate among the security officers. Years later a Star Trek fan wrote a book Why You Should Never Beam Down In A Red Shirt.
I had several episodes of Star Trek on laser disc in the 1980s and was pleased to get the entire series on Blu Ray DVD a few years ago.
I dabble in collecting Star Trek posters. Some of the hardest to find posters are a series of posters released in the 1980s which featured the latest batch of episodes as they were being released on that ancient and now nearly forgotten video format, VHS tape. A few years ago a dealer on ebay offered several of these 1980s posters in high grade condition and I was able to buy most of what he had. They look great framed up and I’m pleased to have them hanging in my home. Bill Tollis at Ocean Art in Virginia Beach framed the ones shown above.
